Australia is the world's sixth-largest country with an area of 7.69 million sq km which is almost the same size of the United States. It has six states and two territories - New South Wales (Sydney), Queensland (Brisbane), South Australia (Adelaide), Tasmania (Hobart), Victoria (Melbourne), Western Australia (Perth), Australian Capital Territory (Canberra) and Northern Territory (Darwin). The capital city is Canberra.

Australia is a multi-race country with a population of 21 million. 7% are Asian immigrants and the majority of them live along the eastern and southeastern coast.

Australia is famous for its sunshine and mild climate where it is temperate in south and east and tropical in north. Summer season is from December to February with an average temperature between 26 to 29 degrees Celsius and winter season is from June to August with an average temperature between 10 to 17 degrees Celsius.
